WILD BOY- When it comes to orders, he has no inhibitions. There are no second thoughts, or decisions with his conscience. He will do damn near everything he feels the desire to do or is ordered to do. He may not look or act like it but he is always on edge, like his ADHD is set in hyperdrive even by demigod standards.
ADRENALINE JUNKIE- Pretty self-explanatory term. Zac needs his adrenaline like any other druggie needs his fix. It adds to the job he used to do, as his missions often put him in high gear like he loved to be in. He will do any crazy stunt just for that exhilarating brush with death, with brazen and unabashed confidence that he will emerge alive and victorious from it.
SOFT-HEARTED- A very minor trait of his, but worth mentioning. He is just as crazy as his personality implies he is and then some, but at the same time he could blow your mind with how innocent his thoughts are or the way he treats someone one-on-one. He's a completely different person when he's closed off of his stimulation of adrenaline or if he's not around a crowd.
LOYAL- He is undoubtedly so. He may be Cato's most loyal follower, because that was what was drilled into him and what he was trained to be. If other people can break off that loyalty that they owe him, then they were never loyal in the first place and can never be trusted.
MASOCHIST- He loves pain. It's part of the reason he has so many tattoos. That, and for intimidation purposes. Torture will never work on him, he will get too into it and even pushed to the brink of death for not giving in and still ask for one more cut. Pain is his sacrifice to his father Mars, or that's how he sees it in his head.
background
Zac was born and raised inside the Roman camp. His heritage was already known, so his purpose and fate was decided for him before he ever had the chance to walk. This he didn't mind though. It made things easy for him. He knew what he would be best at, and he didn't have to worry about making the wrong life decisions. The pressure was on him to excel, though, and his mother was a warrior who pushed him relentlessly. She was personally training him at age five how to hold a battle stance, and by six he was holding a blade.
What he struggled with was not being claimed. Everyone knew whose he was, and he was aspiring above all of the other up-and-coming members of the Roman army. Was Mars proud of him? Why was he not officially claimed? He covered his fears with outright cockiness, and this brought the attention of some of the more seasoned warriors. One of them, Caesar, called him out. He was tested, and challenged. A little scared, but too brazen to turn it down, he accepted. They fought, but it was no contest and Caesar was making a fool of him repeatedly. Throwing him into the dust, scraping him over and over. But he kept standing up. Finally, Caesar was growing tired of it and he slapped Zac across the face hard with the flat of the blade, cutting his cheek in two places. He fell with a slump. That was the first fight he lost. Caesar laughed and walked off, but when he had his back turned after it was said and done Zac jumped up and stabbed him between the shoulder blades. He looked around with a wild look in his eye, and the only words he could say were ones his mother always told him. "Never turn your back on your enemy." He should have been executed on the spot and he knew it, but it was this act that brought the mark of Mars over his head. He had finally been claimed.
He progressed quickly after that day. He was that psycho warrior no one wanted to mess with. It was this fear he instilled in battle that brought the attention of the towering monster that was Baki when he turned 18. Baki was the leader of an elite squadron, one that was the Roman equivalent of the Greeks' Spartans or today's Task Force, called The Gladiators. They dealt with covert operations at the emperor's discretion, and their very presence was intimidating. It was an honor to hold that position, and he fought for the title of second-in-command. He got a tattoo for every mission he went on. The missions ranged from Rescue Squad to monster hunts to anything that needed a party of six or less. Baki was his role model, but even role models aren't invincible. He was turned into a statue by a gorgon on a mission to get the gorgon's head. He grieved through holding Baki's position as leader, though he felt ill-prepared to do so.
And then there was a war like no other he had ever seen. Greeks, everywhere. Left, right, underground, flying! They were destroying the camp, and no amount of warriors he slayed was stopping it. This was the second fight he lost. He watched his home burn to the ground, and he was the first to cry for revenge. And revenge he had. Destroying the Greek camp was a dream come true, the chance to cause so much damage and mayhem was glorious! He went directly for the temples in the battle, taking them down with the Gladiators. But to his brutal dismay, the dust settled and Cato was gone. Instead, there was a truce in his stead. This outraged him. He refused to stand by the Greeks, who first destroy his home and then were too weak to stand much fighting on their own against the Romans. They were all weak, untrained, undisciplined. He walked away, his only hope that the other Gladiators would follow. Some stayed, some left. It was no matter anymore, anyway. Their Emperor Cato was dead. Now he follows Felicity, doing his part by playing the Scavenger role of their group and scouting into unknown or dangerous territory to bring back necessities.
POWERS & ABILITIES
MARS BLESSING - In the heat of battle, he gets immortality. But he has to get so into it that it is close to losing sanity, there is no thought process and everything is done by reflexes and instincts. It is a bloodlust, and this battle haze will not end until his enemies are dead or someone close enough to break through the walls of his mind can snap him out of it.
PROWESS IN BATTLE- He is naturally gifted in a fight and that is clear to see to anybody. He has never lost a fist fight, and only twice has he lost a fight at all. He carries a presence with himself on the battlefield, and his battle aura will trigger warnings in others as his presence nears.
